And considering the Banished have been near-universally loved by Halo Wars 2 fans on Xbox One and the Windows 10 Store, it's likely that newcomers on Steam will feel the same way. This means that fans on Steam who are waiting to play Halo Infinite could play Halo Wars 2 in order to get a taste of what the Banished are like and what can be expected from them when Halo Infinite finally releases. All signs currently point to the Banished being the main enemy in Halo Infinite as well, based on the title's official gameplay reveal.
Halo Wars 2 acts as an origin story of sorts for the Banished faction, as in the campaign, you learn about where the Banished come from and what they're like as you battle against them. Lastly, a Steam release of Halo Wars 2 will help build hype for Halo Infinite, the next mainline entry in the Halo franchise releasing in 2021 on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and both the Windows 10 Store and Steam.
