Yes that is right, you can do a little wiggling to fire off both broadsides, but then you have an overkill factor in place: if you need to kill one ship, 8 torpedoes will get the job done. "But supergramps, Benham can launch 16 torpedoes!". Why is that you might ask? Probably because Wargaming needs a new steel/coal ship but couldn't think of doing a more modern take of the Somers class, such as the most common modification for both the Somers and Porter class which was 2x2 Mk 38 1x1 Mk 30 127mm/38 in a A-XY, 2x4 torpedo tubes, and 1x4 2x2 40mm Bofors for example.Īs for Benham's case: Fletcher does literally everything better than it: She has more HP, more firepower, better AA with defensive fire, and harder hitting torpedoes. So, if this thing had say Mahan/Stock Benson torpedoes, it would essentially be a US Cossack. The only difference between the two is that the Somers has 3x4 torpedo tubes instead of 1x4. Lemme break it down a bit further: the Somers is very comparable to the Cossack at tier VIII: same RoF, similar HP pools, similar torpedo damage, and similar maneuverability. So by slapping 1945 Mk 17 torpedoes on the Somers, it's OK for it to be tier X? And as for the Benham, the Fletcher does everything it can do better, besides having 8 torpedoes in reserve in case the first 8 miss or don't kill the ship you were targeting.

Anyone else think that these upcoming premiums are up-tiered? Seriously, looking at them, they're both in their as-built configurations, with Somers in it's 1937 build, and Benham in it's 1939 build.
